How technology and cloud computing have changed our world.

This past week I used my new iphone to FaceTime with a friend that, although we talk regularly on the phone, I have not physically seen her in years. Isn’t technology wonderful? I couldn’t help but reflect on how much she and I have changed over the years.

Sometimes you wish you could go back to the way it was or that things could just stay the same, but life is ever changing, ever evolving and we must change with it.

Computer technology and data storage is much the same. Both are in a constant state of evolution and rapidly changing. No big surprise there. Computers originally required punch cards to access data. Then it evolved to floppy disks, diskettes, network servers, zip drives, cds, dvds, flash drives, and now clouds.
Even the areas of Cloud Computing and data storage are evolving like never before. Experts believe that this trend will only continue to grow and develop even further in the coming few years. So companies must be prepared to change with it or get left behind.

With that in mind here is a list of 6 advantages of cloud computing and data storage, with a view to helping companies appreciate the abilities of cloud computing.

Cost Efficiency

Traditional desktop software can cost companies a lot in terms of finance. The licensing fees for multiple users can be very expensive. The cloud, on the other hand, can be available at much cheaper rates and can significantly lower the company’s IT expenses.

Almost Unlimited Storage

Cloud data storage gives you an almost unlimited capacity. A business need not to worry about running out of or increasing their storage space availability.

Backup and Recovery

Since all the data is stored in the cloud, backing it up and restoring it can be much easier than storing the same data on a physical device. Most cloud service providers are usually more than capable to handle the recovery of information should it become necessary.

Improve accessibility

Once registered in the cloud, company employees can access the information from anywhere there is an Internet connection. This convenient feature lets you move beyond time zone and geographic locations.

Monitor projects more effectively.

Since business owners and project managers can have access anytime and anywhere, it can help them stay within budget and ahead of completion cycle times.

Rapid Deployment

Lastly and most importantly, cloud computing gives you the advantage of rapid deployment. Once you opt for this method of functioning, your entire system can be fully functional in a matter of a few minutes. Of course, the amount of time taken here will depend on the exact kind of technology that you need for your business.

In conclusion, who wants to go back to floppy disks and zip drives? Cloud technology can prove to be a great asset to companies who recognize the advantages of growing with this ever evolving technology.
