CDI Approach Validated by Market Leaders’ New Vision for Enterprise Data Center Design

Teterboro, New Jersey – October 2009 – Computer Design & Integration LLC (CDI) is uniquely qualified to deliver on a new integrated data center design approach being championed by three of its key vendor partners—Cisco Systems Inc., EMC Corp. and VMware Inc.

That approach, called VCE, is the result of a new strategic alliance formed by Cisco, EMC and VMware. Their goal is to reduce data center infrastructure management complexity and maintenance expenses while allowing organizations to focus new IT investments on the foundation for next-generation enterprise-class “cloud” computing. That foundation will let organizations develop, launch and embrace new enterprise applications and services according to their strategic needs not according to tradition infrastructure limitations.

VCE advocates an integrated approach to virtualizing all data center infrastructure: servers, network devices and storage. While many virtualization projects are planned and managed separately, VCE aligns key technologies from these three technology leaders so organizations can consolidate these efforts. Under the alliance, the three technology providers are planning reference architectures, design blueprints and solutions that help automate data center infrastructure. This, in turn, will let businesses build out private “computing clouds” that enable them to develop and introduce new enterprise applications and services more quickly, while ensuring access control, security and quality of service.

“The idea that data center infrastructure should be viewed holistically is a philosophy that we have advocated for years,” says Trish Bakker, CEO of CDI, which makes its corporate headquarters in Teterboro, N.J. “With virtualization becoming a mainstream technology in virtually every enterprise data center, businesses have an unprecedented opportunity to rethink their approach to infrastructure and how it supports strategic business processes and services. VCE represents a way for companies to capitalize on existing investments while laying the groundwork for the future. By nature of its relationship with the VCE founders, CDI can help make this vision a reality.”

As a top-level, long-time partner of all three organizations behind the VCE initiative, CDI is uniquely qualified to deliver on this unified vision. The IT services company has represented advanced EMC and Cisco technologies for close to a decade, and it holds the highest possible certifications for both vendors; it is an EMC “Proven” authorized partner and a Cisco Silver Certified Partner. CDI has been a VMware reseller since the company’s inception and is a Premier Enterprise Partner.
